Okay, so here’s what happened. I grew up in the midwest, moved to Utah, and realized that I’m actually a hardcore masculist who can’t stand it when people don’t notice their privilege and/or the way that majority culture oppresses pretty much everyone. In particular, I have an eye for catching sexism, heterosexism, gender-policing, and misandry in media, news, and day-to-day life. But I found myself with this little crisis of not having anyone to talk to about these things except my partner, and my frustration with the world is more than any one person should have to deal with on their own.

So I started this little blog called “masculisthemes.com” thinking that it would give me an outlet for this stuff, as well as a challenge to keep thinking critically and keep writing about my beliefs. This worked well for about a year and a half. However, I was a graduate student in the midst of thesis defenses and dissertation proposals and comprehensive exams and pressure to publish and all of those academic hoops that a person who chooses to go into my profession must face before we can enter the world and actually help people, which is what got me into this mess in the first place.
In other words, I was just too overwhelmed with maintaining an original blog. Luckily, I came across this thing called “tumblr” where I can repost the things that I find fascinating with minimal commentary when I am swamped. Hopefully I’ll still manage an original rant here and there, but for the purposes of my own little consciousness-raising scrapbook I think that this should do it. Here we go again!
